Hi! I’m so grateful you’ve landed here. I am excited to share with you the practices and tools that have changed my life.

I currently reside in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I hail from the greater Washington D.C. area (Arlington, Virginia to be exact). Here I teach weekly, in person classes. I also host yoga retreats around the world - everywhere from West Virginia to Bali, Indonesia!

I’ve been teaching since January 2018, and the path of yoga led me to hang up my power suit (13 years in management consulting) in favor of yoga pants, and a completely new way of living.

Yoga teaches me to be present with my breath and body. To find reverence for the little things. To explore discipline and devotion as co-existing necessities of living. And to always start from right now, this moment.

I love sharing this practice with others, and do my best to honor its roots and lineage. I never cease to be amazed at the incredibly precise and relevant tools yoga offers to assuage our modern predicaments. And, I’m in awe of the ancient people who learned and shared this practice before we ever used the scientific method.

I believe yoga is the long road. I’m most inspired by sadhana (daily spiritual/physical practice), bhakti (devotion, heart-led path), pranayama + meditation (breathwork + sitting), and asana (physical movement, postures). I aim to live by the ethical guidelines of the yamas and niyamas, and, it turns out: being human is hard!

I believe you get out of it what you put into it (“it” being the practice), and in the great paradox that is the practice of yoga, we also practice non-attaching to the fruits of our labors. Where I keep arriving over and over again is this: showing up as my full self is enough.

My training includes:

  • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200 hour program from Spark Yoga (January 2018), E-RYT 200 (January 2023), and RYT 500 from Janet Stone’s Yoga School (May 2023)

  • Relax and Renew® Level 1 with Judith Hanson Lasater (December 2024)

  • 2024 Mentorship Program with Janet Stone & Connie Engel (March-September 2024)

Testimonials

“Group yoga is the perfect healthy, mood lifting and stress relieving activity to offer employees. Having Kathleen come to our office makes it easy to include everyone and seeing others participate encourages more employees to join in. She does a great job assessing and reaching the skill level and needs of the group each time. We really look forward to our practice with Kathleen and hope to add even more sessions soon.”

- Holly L.

“Kathleen is a great instructor who comes to our office in Bethesda, MD. I am a total beginner and not very flexible, but Kathleen does not judge and does not try to force me or any of my coworkers to do what we can’t. Instead, she encourages us to listen to our bodies and is optimistic that with time and practice, we’ll be able to achieve more advanced movements. She’s also super personable which makes the classes even more enjoyable.”

- Kim N.

“Kathleen is a creative, kind and skillful yoga teacher. She meets students at their point of need and encourages softening when they need it and pushes them when they need that. She weaves in specific alignment cues with interesting sequences. If you want to be inspired in your practice, join Kathleen.”
